“At Walton Youth & Community Project we believe ALL young people have potential, our job as youth workers is to help them see this, then support them in fulfilling it” – Darren Simpson, Youth and Community Manager

Walton Youth & Community Project is a charitable youth organisation that believes in supporting ALL young people to flourish.

A brief history of Walton Youth and Community Project

Walton Youth Project has evolved out of a long history of education and community involvement within the Parish of St Mary Walton-on-the-Hill. Our history stems from the Ancient Grammar School (built in 1613). This building in the churchyard once housed Walton Boy’s Club and it continues to be used by WYP to engage with local residents. The Walton Boy’s Club developed into Walton Youth Centre (now demolished). We reconstituted in 1995 as Walton Youth Project. This initiative is part of a multi-agency approach to respond to the needs of young people and local residents. The proposed initiative builds on the 400 years of engagement with young people in the Parish of Walton-on-the-Hill. For four centuries the Parish has used innovative and imaginative ways to engage and work with young people.

Walton Youth and Community Project remains committed to the core values that we were founded upon. Although our values remain the same, our practice has developed over the years to meet the new challenges young people and the local community face. Click below to find out more about us!
