About UsWalton Youth Project is a small registered charity and a grant aided youth project working with young people and their families in the Walton area of North Liverpool. We provide localised needs led provision that works with young people to offer a changing service in reflection of community needs. We have developed an expertise in setting up, developing and managing innovative projects that achieve lasting change at a localised level. Our inclusive ‘grass roots’ approach that engages young people and families is a particular strength. Our service empowers individuals to take ownership and make a difference to their lives and their communities. We offer a quality service that is user led allowing people to have a stake in implementing and planning services. We are open six days a week and offer our services over evenings, nights, and weekends to ensure we are available according to the needs of our users. The project has a strong community focus and a committed and active local management committee with a real vision and passion to make a difference in the area. Many families and young people plan and use the services on offer, last summer over 300 children and young people engaged in various projects. We facilitate youth steering groups, signpost young people into the LYS Youth Council and YOF panels. Last year local parents have set up ‘Walton Families Matter’ to ensure their views are heard in service plans. We are seen as a provider of a quality service, our multi agency maximises resources which has greatly benefited children, young people and families living in Walton.
